The Chicago Winds Answer the Call: Empowering the Next Generation at Columbus Park
Today, the Chicago Winds hosted their highly anticipated tryouts and youth football camp at Columbus Park, marking another powerful step in their mission to empower and unite the community through women’s football.
Under the leadership of owner Angelique Smith, the Winds brought together over 50 young athletes for a dynamic youth camp, giving kids a hands-on experience in teamwork, discipline, and motivation. Following the camp, the official Chicago Winds tryouts kicked off drawing more than 90 talented women ready to compete for a spot on Chicago’s newest professional women’s football team.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with energy, ambition, and pride as players showcased their skills and determination. Coaches, staff, and supporters cheered them on, proving that the movement Angelique Smith started is about much more than football it’s about representation, opportunity, and community pride.
With the success of the event, the Chicago Winds continue to build momentum heading into the upcoming WNFC season, reaffirming their place as a force for change and empowerment in Chicago sports.
