Chicago Fire FC Drops $650M Stadium Plan
Published on Jun 17, 2025

Chicago Fire FC has officially unveiled plans for a $650 million stadium coming to the South Loop. Set to anchor the massive “The 78” development, this 22,000-seat soccer-specific venue is expected to open in 2028.
The stadium will be privately funded by owner Joe Mansueto and designed with fans in mind — including features like:
- A grass playing surface
- Public riverwalk access and gathering spaces
- A dedicated supporters’ section for die-hard fans
- Sleek, modern architecture that fits Chicago’s skyline
This project marks one of the largest privately funded stadium investments in MLS history and positions the Fire to bring world-class soccer experiences back to the heart of the city.
