“FREE AMERICA” Protests Signal a Tipping Point - And I’m Tired

Every year, July 4th is supposed to be about freedom. But in 2025, it's becoming clearer that America’s freedom is still being contested – not overseas, but right here at home. And I’m tired. Tired of hearing the same name. Tired of seeing the same cycle. Tired of watching communities try to hold on to a version of America that slips further away every time Trump takes center stage.

This week, hundreds of “Free America” demonstrations are set to take place across the country. Organized by Women’s March and other grassroots coalitions, these protests are not just anti-Trump—they are pro-democracy, pro-justice, pro-human dignity. The message is clear: we’re done being gaslit. We’re done pretending this is normal. And we're damn sure done waiting for someone else to save us.

These events—some called “No Kings 2.0”—will include everything from marches and rallies to candlelight vigils and art builds. Cities from Salt Lake to San Antonio, from Miami to Chicago, are stepping up. People are gathering not just to protest a man, but to challenge a movement that threatens to erode every hard-earned freedom we claim to celebrate on Independence Day.

Let’s be real. This ain’t just about politics. This is about survival. It's about the communities Trump’s policies have targeted—immigrants, working-class families, LGBTQ+ folks, women, Black and brown people. It’s about the lies, the fear tactics, and the nonstop headlines that try to normalize authoritarianism.

As someone who’s lived through struggle, who’s risen after being knocked down, I know what resilience looks like. I know what fighting back feels like. But even I have to admit—this is exhausting. Every time I turn on the news, it’s the same name. The same drama. The same circus. And while Trump rants, the people suffer. While his loyalists shout, schools crumble. While he campaigns on division, communities are trying to heal.

This is bigger than him now. It’s about the culture we’re becoming. A culture where corruption is excused, cruelty is applauded, and facts don’t matter. And if that doesn't scare you, you’re not paying attention.

But here’s the thing. America isn’t his to claim. Freedom isn’t his to define. And history won’t be kind to those who stayed silent while the country was being pulled backwards.

So yeah, I’m tired. But I’m not backing down. Neither are the thousands of people marching this July 4th. They’re showing up in every state, every city, every town square because they still believe in the idea of a free America—an America that works for all of us, not just for the loudest, wealthiest, or most dangerous.

This isn’t about left or right. It’s about right and wrong.

And right now, silence ain’t an option.
