GerryPthaDJ & Troche: A Phone Call Between Cultural Powerhouses That Could Shift the Chicago Music Scene By Gerry P Entertainment | FAB945TheHitz.com

“I don’t mean to toot my own horn… but I AM the culture.” That was the energy on the line when @GerryPthaDJ chopped it up with @ItsTroche — an authentic, no-holds-barred conversation between two men deeply rooted in the heart of Chicago’s underground music, media, and culture scenes.

What started as a quick check-in turned into a powerful exchange of flowers, plans, and truth, lasting over an hour.

Mutual Respect & A Shared Vision

Gerry made it known from the jump — he’s been hearing nothing but solid things about Troche from his sources in the streets, online, and behind the scenes. “Bro, you got the city watching,” Gerry said, “and I already know FAB 94.5 The Hitz & BootCamp Radio Worldwide can elevate your movement even higher.”

The two reflected on Hip Hop Culture Fest 6, where seeds were first planted for collaboration. Now? The time feels right to move with purpose. With Gerry playing a key role in transitioning My Radio Chicago to Kulture Chicago alongside @chicagokingdave, the radio landscape is shifting. Real creators are linking — not just for the hype, but for long-term culture moves.

 Where’s the Unity?

And then, the elephant in the room — Gerry didn’t shy away:

“Why is everything in Indiana now? What happened to our CHICAGO parties?”

It was real talk. The joke hit hard — “We went from DJ Pharris yelling ‘THIS CHICAGO NGGA’ to now yelling ‘THIS GARY, INDIANA NGGA’?!” ??

Gerry expressed concern for the fracturing of Chicago’s underground music scene, especially when compared to how Chicago comedians have found a way to come together and win as a unit.

“Artists today are ALL for self. That’s not how it was when I was outside. We moved together.”

Now with Dave relocated, Fashion Geek Zo’s podcast blowing up, and the game becoming more isolated, Gerry believes it’s time to bring back that old spirit. Collaboration. Unity. Purpose.

Think Bigger: A Christmas Project That Pays Royalties

The conversation didn’t stop at reflection. Gerry, always the visionary, shared an idea he stole (with love) from DJ Amaris:

“Let’s get the top Chicago independent artists to make a CHRISTMAS mixtape/EP!”

Featuring Super Producer Too Offishall, this project wouldn’t just be for vibes. It’s about giving artists yearly royalties and pushing music that lives on beyond a viral moment. “Shoutout to Mariah Carey,” Gerry laughed, “She checks a bag EVERY December. I want my city to do the same!”

Mental Health Matters: June Check-In

This wasn’t just a music conversation. With June being Mental Health Awareness Month, both men took time to speak LIFE into each other.

“You never know what somebody’s going through mentally,” Gerry shared.

“It felt good to just talk — no egos, no interviews, just soul.”

Gerry urged everyone to check on their people. Not the fake “you good?” — but real check-ins. Real connection. Because sometimes that phone call could be the very thing that saves someone.

Final Word from GerryPthaDJ

“I just want to see CHICAGO come back together again. When we moved as a unit, we were UNSTOPPABLE. Now everyone wants to be the man — but there’s no village. That’s why I’m supporting Troche. That’s why FAB 94.5 & BootCamp Radio are behind him. The new wave starts here.”
